If Your Spouse Beats You Up Can You Get A Divorce In Ocean Springs

So, if your spouse beats the heck out of you, can you get a divorce in Ocean Springs?

No.

The Mississippi Legislature says you can’t.

The legislature refused to add domestic violence as a reason to get a divorce.

So ladies and gentlemen, my question to you is: why do you keep voting to put these same people in office?

I hear this all the time: the legislature is horrible.

Yet, the same people vote for the same person all the time.

I see it repeatedly – when you get elected to office here it is almost for life.

Why in the heck do you do that?

You know, you can get a divorce here if your spouse cheats on you but you can’t get a divorce if he beats the crap out of you?

Makes a lot of sense doesn’t it?

I mean who in the heck said that’s okay and that somehow makes sense?

It’s crazy.

And don’t let anyone tell you any different.  This makes it more difficult to get a divorce when you get the heck beat out of you.

The Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence tried to get this bill passed but it died in the Senate.

So, ladies are you going to vote for your state senator and representative again?

I have money that says we’ll elect the same people again regardless of this bill.

It is ridiculous.

As a kid, I lived through that non-sense.

I still have nightmares.

Do yourself a favor and everyone a favor, vote for someone different for a change even if they aren’t from the party you like.

And let’s get some momentum on this bill for next year.

Call your state senator and your state representative and let them know that you want this bill passed and if they aren’t going to vote for it, you’ll vote against them.
